Starting Monday, May 11, Parking Utility staff will begin phase two of the cleaning of the Fifth and Walnut Parking Garage, N. Fifth Street and E. Walnut Street. Phase two consists of cleaning the down ramp portion from the ground floor to the fourth floor.
Parking will not be available on the down ramp sections of the garage from the fifth level to the ground level during this time. Cones and caution tape will be used to mark which spaces are inaccessible and to assist in directing traffic.
The cleaning of the down ramp sections and the application of sealant is scheduled to be completed by Monday, May 18, weather permitting. Once phase two is complete, staff will determine a timeline and plan for cleaning the up ramp portions of the ground level through the fourth floor while maintaining access for public parking.

Starting Wednesday, April 22, floors five through nine of the Fifth and Walnut Parking Garage, N. Fifth Street and E. Walnut Street, will be closed to all traffic and parking to allow Parking Utility staff to begin the scheduled deep cleaning of the garage. Due to the Stay at Home Order, impact to parking is expected to be minimal. Public parking will still be available on levels one through four. Barricades will be posted on the fifth level to block access to the upper levels and aid in directing traffic to the lower levels.
Once each level has been fully cleaned and dried, a sealant will be applied to keep water from penetrating the surface. Once the upper levels are finished, staff will reevaluate the parking and traffic to determine a timeline for continuing the work on floors one through four. Cleaning on the upper floors is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, April 29, weather permitting.
