At approximately 9:27 a.m. on March 23, Columbia Police responded to a call of a female, 42, who was standing and sitting on the safety railing at the top of the Fifth and Walnut Street parking garage. Boone County Joint Communications advised officers that the subject was on the east side of the garage.
Members of the Crisis Negotiation Team were sent to the top of the garage to make contact with the subject. By approximately 11:02 a.m., members of the CNT were able to successfully bring the subject down to safety.
During the negotiations, access to Sixth and Walnut Street as well as parts of Fifth Street was closed off to traffic. Columbia police appreciate the patience and cooperation of the public during this incident.
