Don Schnieders Excavating Company, Inc. plans to begin construction of the Providence Road at Broadway Turn Lane Project March 16, 2020, weather permitting. This project will extend the right turn lane from northbound Providence Road onto eastbound Broadway and rebuild the sidewalk. The project is expected to be completed in May 2020.
The contractor plans to begin work in the vacant lot adjacent to Providence Road. Both Providence Road and East Broadway will remain open to two-way traffic throughout the project, with some lane restrictions as the project progresses. The right turn lane on Providence Road at Broadway will close soon after the project begins, followed by intermittent closures of the right through lane, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Some minor delays are expected.
This Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project, which is being designed and constructed in conjunction with the Flat Branch Park Expansion and Gateway Plaza Project, will help relieve congestion at the Providence Road and East Broadway intersection and improve the sidewalk. The estimated investment for the project is $130,000 and the funding source is the 2015 Capital Improvement Sales Tax.
An interested parties meeting for the project was held Jan. 31, 2019, and the project was approved by City Council Nov. 4, 2019, after a public hearing. More information about the project is available at CoMo.gov/PublicWorks/Providence-turn.
