- The City’s Office of Cultural Affairs will host the central Missouri regional competition for Poetry Out Loud on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Walton Building, 300 S Providence Rd. The event is free and open to the public.
The competition, presented in partnership with the Missouri Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation.
Winning students from four area high school competitions are slated to participate in the central Missouri regional Poetry Out Loud contest. The winner advances to the state competition on March 12 in Jefferson City. The Missouri champion advances to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals on April 27-29, 2020.
