The City of Columbia is monitoring and preparing for a winter weather system forecast for today, Feb. 4, through Thursday, Feb. 6. All available City resources will be utilized in responding to the winter weather to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community members.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning with 4-6 inches of accumulation possible through Thursday. Tonight, there is a potential for a light mix of winter precipitation, including a possible glaze and a dusting of snow, and below freezing road temperatures.
City of Columbia Public Works currently has a 16-person plow crew in place through the rush hour today with plans for a 22-person crew to report at 7 p.m. to continue winter weather response operations overnight. City staff will continue to closely monitor road conditions and adjust operational plans as needed.
As winter weather can be unpredictable, residents are encouraged to closely monitor the forecast and changing road conditions throughout the mid-Missouri area and be prepared to drive with extreme caution.
Additional updates will be available via press release, social media and CoMoSnow.com.
