(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 4003 Day Flower Court on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 2:36pm.
The first unit arrived on the scene approximately five minutes later and noted no smoke or fire coming from a two story residence. Upon entering the home they encountered smoke and located a fire in a hallway that was quickly extinguished and confined to the hallway.
A Fire Marshal was dispatched to perform a fire origin and cause investigation. The origin of the fire was a hallway in the home. The cause was an electrical failure of a battery operated Christmas tree. Damage is estimated at $2,000.
Six units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call. There were no reported injuries.
