Public invited to meet new deputy city manager, finance director on Dec. 2

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The public is invited to a meet and greet with the City’s new Deputy City Manager De’Carlon Seewood and new Finance Director Matthew Lue on Monday, Dec. 2. There will be two times for members of the community to meet and visit with Seewood and Lue on Monday, a morning session from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and an evening session from 6 to 7 p.m. Both will be in Conference Rooms 1A/1B at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. Light refreshments will be provided.

Seewood began with the City on Nov. 18 as the deputy city manager, coming from the City of Ferguson, Missouri. Seewood has more than 13 years of experience in various executive leadership roles in local government. Seewood served as the city manager for the City of Ferguson, Missouri from 2015 until this year. His prior experience includes serving as the village manager for the Village of Richton Park, Illinois from 2009 to 2015, the city manager for the City of Berkley, Missouri from 2007 to 2009 and the assistant city manager for Ferguson, Missouri from 2001 to 2007. He’s also served in an interim capacity as a director of Finance, Planning and Development, and Ferguson Neighborhood Improvement Program. Seewood earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1994 from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri and a Master of Public Administration in 1997 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. 

Lue began with the City on Nov. 4 as the finance director, coming from the City of Warrensburg, Missouri. Lue has more than 13 years of private- and public-sector experience in accounting and management. He began his career in finance with Children's Mercy Hospital in 2006 as the treasury accountant and was named the treasury analyst in 2010. In April 2015, Lue was selected as the finance director for the City of Warrensburg, Missouri. Lue earned a Bachelor of Business in Finance at the University of Central Missouri (formerly Central Missouri State University) in 2006 and earned his MBA in Healthcare Administration in 2013 from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri.
