Columbia Parks and Recreation is unveiling a commemorative MKT Trail poster to kick off the CoMoGives campaign for the Columbia Parks and Recreation Fund. The unveiling event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, the National Day of Giving, from 5:15 to 7 p.m. at Walt’s Bike Shop, 1217 Rogers St.
The artwork is the second in a commemorative series designed by local artist David Spear, who will be available to sign posters at the event. The posters will be provided as a premium for a minimum donation of $20 (by credit or debit card only) to the Columbia Parks and Recreation Fund through the online CoMoGives campaign, which will run through Dec. 31 at CoMoGives.com. The event will provide a unique opportunity for donors to get a poster signed by the artist.
The Columbia Parks and Recreation Fund was established in 2017 as an endowment fund to sustain and augment Parks and Recreation programs and facilities during difficult economic times when operating expenses are increasing and municipal budgets are shrinking.
Walt's Bike Shop is supporting the Fund by offering an additional premium of SmartWool socks at the Dec. 3 event (while supplies last) for donations of $50 or more. Complimentary appetizers, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided at the event, thanks to sponsors Logboat Brewing Co., N.H. Scheppers Distributing, Nauser Beverage and Pepsi Beverages Co. The art unveiling event is also sponsored by Walt’s Bike Shop.
