Columbia Police investigating apparent attempted homicide and self-inflicted gunshot wound on Nov. 15

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police officers responded to reports of shots fired and injuries at a residence in the 2800 block of Jacobs Place Friday, Nov. 15, at approximately 8:10 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located two individuals inside a residence with gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation shows one female sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and the male sustained a self-inflicted life-threatening gunshot wound. Both individuals were provided first aid until EMS arrived, then immediately transported to a local emergency room for advanced medical care. 

The male, now identified as the suspect in the apparent attempted homicide, later died at the hospital as a result of his self-inflicted injury. He was identified as Deshawn Zentrell Graves, 22, of Columbia. Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing. There is no further information to provide at this time, as this is an active investigation.
