City of Columbia Public Works plans to have an 8-person crew report at 3 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 31 to monitor road conditions and to treat priority routes. Air temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing around 4 a.m., meaning pavement temperatures might also fall below freezing.
Ice is not currently in the forecast but isolated slick conditions are possible. If rain and drizzle continue through the night, this may reduce the effectiveness of pretreatment.
Motorists are encouraged to stay tuned to local forecasts, give themselves extra time for their morning commute and be prepared to drive with extreme caution.
