Residents who wish to run for City Council for Ward 1 and Ward 5 must file a petition for office with the City Clerk’s Office. Petitions, along with instructions, are available for pick up in the City Clerk's Office on the second floor of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, which is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m., excluding weekends and City holidays.
Candidates must be qualified voters and residents of the Ward they are filing to represent and shall hold no lucrative public office or any lucrative position in the City government. Candidates must obtain at least 50 signatures from residents who reside and are registered voters of that same Ward.
Candidates may file for election beginning at 8 a.m. on Oct. 29, 2019; the deadline to file is Jan. 14, 2020, not later than 5 p.m.
