City of Columbia Public Works contractor Tarlton Construction is scheduled to begin maintenance to the east and west exterior facade panels of Fifth and Walnut Parking Garage, 500 E. Walnut St., beginning Monday, Oct. 14, weather permitting.
Tarlton Construction will fix the facade panels by installing anchor plates to reinforce the exterior facade on every level of the garage. Maintenance will begin on the eighth floor, with each level projected to take four days to complete.
While the work is taking place, parking spaces along the east and west ends of the garage will be blocked off for crews to access the inner and outer walls. Parking spaces will close starting on the eighth floor, progressing down at the same rate as maintenance and reopening when that floor’s work is complete. The number of closed spaces will be minimal. Enough additional parking spots will be available to account for the displacement of the permit spots while keeping hourly spaces available.
All maintenance to all floors is scheduled to be completed by Monday, Nov. 18, weather permitting.
