The Columbia Police Department received a call Monday, Aug. 26, at approximately 3:41 p.m. for a report of a possible robbery where someone was also shot at 101 N. Stadium Blvd.
Officers arrived and located a male with a gunshot wound to his right leg. The man was treated on the scene and transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Officers and detectives had a difficult time during the investigation as the victim and witnesses did not wish to share much information. Detectives and patrol officers were able to determine that the gunshot victim agreed to meet the suspect in the parking lot of the Shoppes at Stadium to sell a marijuana cartridge for a vaping unit. During the exchange an argument ensued and the suspect (buyer) displayed a handgun and shot the victim (seller) in the leg.
The victim did not wish to share information with CPD and signed a document stating he would decline any prosecution. There is no suspect information to share.
Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or Crimestoppers at 573.875.TIPS to remain anonymous.
