Free Roots N Blues N BBQ vouchers available for low-income households

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for free vouchers to the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival, Sept. 27-29 at Stephens Lake Park. A limited number of vouchers were made available for Columbia’s low-income households through an agreement with festival coordinators, Thumper Entertainment.

Applications will be accepted starting Tuesday, Aug. 20, and must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 for consideration. Applications are available at CoMo.gov/parksandrec, or they may be picked up and submitted at Parks and Recreation’s administrative office at 1 S. Seventh St.

A random drawing of applicants meeting eligibility requirements will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10. Winners will be notified by phone or email. Vouchers will be distributed from Sept. 16 through Sept. 26 at the Parks and Recreation administrative office. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winners of the drawing will use their voucher to claim their wristband at the festival box office. All recipients must show identification.

The festival is cashless, so wristbands will be used as a digital wallet. Recipients with questions should refer to the festival website for more information about cashless payments at rootsnbluesnbbq.com/wristbands.

Applicants must be residents of the City of Columbia with a total household income less than 185% of the federal poverty level. Each household is limited to one application with a maximum of four vouchers distributed per household. Children ages 14 and under do not need a wristband to attend the festival.

For more information about the ticket application process, call Parks and Recreation at 573.874.7460. For information about the festival, visit rootsnbluesnbbq.com.
