Columbia Police officers responded to the 200 block of Apple Tree Court on Sunday, July 21, at approximately 3:10 a.m. for a report of shots fired. During the investigation, evidence was located that indicated shots were fired and a total of 32 shell casings were located.
There were no injuries reported. During the investigation, officers located damage to a vehicle that was not involved and damage to a residence where officers found and round lodged in an A/C duct and another lodged in a child's bedroom wall where the child was asleep.
Two suspect vehicles were described as a white Cadillac with large rims and a dark-colored Pontiac G6. There are no descriptions of the drivers or other suspects at this time. Both vehicles left prior to officers arriving on the scene.
"We are glad no one was injured, especially the child sleeping," Assistant Chief Brian Richenberger said. "Detectives are actively following up on leads to find all the responsible parties. We encourage anyone with information to come forward to help CPD."
