Beginning Monday, July 8, City of Columbia Water & Light will start installing a new six-inch water main on Crown Point and Orchard Court. The project will upgrade existing infrastructure, increase fire protection and provide a more reliable water service for the area. The project is anticipated to be completed by October 1, weather and staffing dependent.
Traffic in the area will be restricted to one lane during the construction work. Motorists, non-motorized transportation users and pedestrians should exercise caution when traveling through the area and are advised to seek alternate routes. Water service disruptions during this portion of the project are expected to be minimal. The estimated investment for this capital project is approximately $420,000.
