UPDATE: Three arrests made in relation to homicide in the 1500 block of Tupelo Place on June 26

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police arrested three suspects on Thursday, June 27 in connection with the homicide in the 1500 block of Tupelo Place on Wednesday, June 26.

Derrick Victor Petty, 30, of Sturgeon was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action

Cortez Lorenzo Brimmage, 28, of Columbia was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder and 2nd Degree Assault.

Dontrez Teraell Jones, 32, of Columbia was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder and 2nd Degree Assault.

Columbia Police patrol officers, Forensic Evidence Team, the Street Crimes Unit and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division acted swiftly in collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, working around the clock in order to identify any person(s) responsible for the homicide.

"I would like to thank our residents, police officers and citizen employees who all worked together to help bring this to a quick resolution," Interim Police Chief Geoff Jones said. "This is a great example of what we can accomplish when the community and the Police Department come together to solve crime issues."
