The Columbia Police Department is inviting anyone between the ages of 14-21 who has an interest in learning about law enforcement to join the Explorer Program. There will be an introductory meeting Wednesday, June 5 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Columbia Insurance Group Substation, 2102 Whitegate Drive. During that meeting, attendees will receive more information about the program and CPD will be able to answer any questions.
Being part of the Columbia Police Department Explorer Post 207 will provide educational training programs for young community members on the purposes, mission, and objectives of law enforcement. The Program provides career-orientation experiences, leadership opportunities and community service activities. Explorers will receive training in many different categories, including traffic control, evidence collection, firearm safety and much more. Meetings will be held bi-weekly.
The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible residents of their communities.
Questions prior to the meeting can be directed to Officer Shull by email at [email protected].
