Update Details: Due to the weather forecast for next week, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has delayed the Route AC bridge closure scheduled to begin on Monday, June 3. The closure has been rescheduled to begin Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m., weather permitting.
Original Press Release:
The Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) Bridge in Columbia is one of seven bridges along U.S. Route 63 scheduled to undergo rehabilitation and preventive maintenance this year. This Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) project beginning June 3 will extend the life of the Route AC Bridge.
Although the Route AC Bridge will be closed during the work, the U.S. Route 63 access ramps will remain open. Alternate routes will be available via Discovery Parkway and Stadium Boulevard.
The City of Columbia is working closely with MoDOT to communicate these alternate routes to the public. Signs will be posted by MoDOT to alert motorists of the closed bridge and detours will be signed during construction. MoDOT expects the closure and detours to last 60 days, weather permitting.
- East on Grindstone wanting to go north: Take southbound 63 to the Discovery Parkway exit to essentially make a U-turn onto northbound 63. (Take 63 southbound to Discovery Parkway, turn left at the light and then another left to merge onto northbound 63.)
- East on Grindstone wanting to go south: Use southbound 63 (No detour.)
- West on New Haven wanting to go north: Use northbound 63 (No detour.)
- West on New Haven wanting to go south: Take northbound 63 to Stadium Boulevard to essentially make a U-turn onto southbound 63. (Take northbound 63 to Stadium Boulevard, turn left at the light and then another left to merge onto 63 southbound.)
Please share this information with friends, coworkers and family members. There will be posts on the Columbia Public Works Facebook and Twitter pages that can be shared to help spread the word. MoDOT will also have additional information as the project nears. Updates will also be available at Modot.org/modot-central-district.
MoDOT would like to thank drivers for their patience as the Route AC Bridge is restored to good health.
