Visit Your Parks Playground Challenge kicks off May 18

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Parks and Recreation’s annual Visit Your Parks Playground Challenge will kick off on Saturday, May 18.

The Playground Challenge is a free summer-long program designed to get children and their parents or guardians out exploring Columbia’s parks. Each participant who visits at least 10 playgrounds is eligible for a prize, including a daily pass to the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC). Participants who visit up to 20 parks will also receive an entry into the grand prize drawing for a $100 Columbia Parks and Recreation gift certificate.

The Playground Challenge will end Sept. 2. Tracking sheets are available at the Parks and Recreation office, 1 S. Seventh St., or online at CoMo.gov (search playground challenge). Sheets must be turned in by Sept. 20.

The Challenge kicks off in conjunction with Kids to Parks Day, a national day of outdoor play organized by National Park Trust. This national event has the same mission as the Playground Challenge: to encourage families to get out with their children and experience all their local parks have to offer.
