**Update**Structure Fire on Brackenhill Court
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Fire investigators have determined the cause of the fire on Brackenhill Court was lightning. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 7252 Brackenhill Court on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 4:33pm.
Fire units arrived approximately seven minutes later and observed fire coming from the roof of a large, two story residence. Fire crews began an aggressive offensive fire attack coordinating an aerial device with a preconnected hose line. Initial reports indicated there may be a dog in the home but the occupants were not there.
Crews brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. The dog was found outside and it is believed it exited the structure on its own. There was no one home at the time of the event.
Fire investigators are on the scene performing a fire origin and cause investigation.
Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call. There were no reported injuries.
Additional information regarding the origin and cause will be released as it becomes available.
