Mill and overlay operations are scheduled to take place on Forum Boulevard during the evening hours, May 5-11, weather permitting. Capital Paving, contractor for Columbia Public Works, plans to begin milling operations on Sunday, May 5 at 7 p.m., weather permitting.
Crews plan to work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly to reduce the impact on traffic. Forum Boulevard will remain open to two-way traffic during paving operations but traffic delays may occur. Work is scheduled to be completed by 7 a.m. Saturday, May 11, weather permitting.
Paving will be performed on all lanes from Stadium Boulevard to the Hinkson Creek Bridge. Mill and overlay operations involve milling off the top of the pavement surface and then applying a layer of asphalt back to create a smooth driving surface. The goal is to extend the life of the roadway for an additional 6 to 20 years. For more information on the City of Columbia’s Pavement Management Plan, visit CoMo.gov/PublicWorks/MO2019.
Motorists, nonmotorized transportation users and pedestrians are urged to use caution in the workzone.
