Columbia Police make arrest for suspicious activity at West Middle School on April 16

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at West Middle School, 401 Clinkscales Rd., on April 16 at approximately 7:10 a.m. The vehicle had left the area prior to officers arrival, however, during the course of the investigation, officers were able to review video and obtain a description of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation CPD identified the vehicle as one belonging to Kelvin Joe, 53, of Columbia. On April 9, Columbia Police investigated two suspicious incidents at Gentry Middle School and College Park Christian Academy. The individual involved in both of those incidents, Kelvin Joe, voluntarily spoke with police and was cited for 1st Degree Trespass and Driving While Revoked. Joe was also issued a trespass warning which prohibits Joe from being on Columbia Public School Property.

Officers contacted Joe and confirmed he was the individual at West Middle School around 7:10 am this morning. Joe was arrested for 1st Degree Trespass. Due to Joe willfully violating the trespass warning from the previous incident, Columbia Police have requested a bond increase and the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has petitioned the judge for a higher bond.

Joe will be remanded to the custody of the Boone County Jail where bond will be set.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to please contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or Crimestoppers at 573.875.TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
