Public input meeting set for March 5 for new Philips Park pavilion

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Parks and Recreation is holding a public input meeting regarding the construction of an indoor pavilion at A. Perry Philips Park, 5050 Bristol Lake Parkway. The drop-in meeting will be held at the Aria Apartments, 4500 Kentsfield Lane, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5.

The new indoor pavilion is proposed to be about 9,000 square feet, featuring a reception hall with a capacity for up to 300 people. The space will be used for Parks and Recreation programs and events, and will also be available for public rentals, such as meetings and other gatherings.

Construction work would include a new parking lot and re-routing of the Philips Lake trail to provide private lake access for events at the pavilion.

Staff will be available at the public input meeting to share preliminary designs, answer questions and take comments.

The construction investment of the pavilion is budgeted at $800,000. Funds will be provided by the 2015 voter-approved Park Sales Tax.
