Columbia Police investigating suspicious fire at Planned Parenthood - Columbia Health Center, 711 N. Providence

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to investigate a fire alarm at Planned Parenthood - Columbia Health Center, 711 N. Providence Road, at 4:06 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10.

The first arriving unit observed a light haze in the building and upgraded the call to a commercial structure fire, resulting in additional units being dispatched. Further investigation revealed that a small fire started inside the structure and the buildings sprinkler system extinguished it.  

An Assistant Fire Marshal was requested to perform a fire origin and cause investigation. The investigation determined the fire was suspicious in nature so the Columbia Police Department was notified. There is no further information to release at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
