Crisis Negotiation Team, SWAT respond to barricaded subject with active warrants in the 1200 block of Longwell Drive on Jan. 30

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Police responded to a tip on Wednesday, Jan. 30 that a subject with active felony warrants was at a residence in the 1200 block of Longwell Drive. Officers began monitoring the home and first attempted to make contact at approximately 1:50 p.m.

Officers confirmed the wanted subject, Anthony Maurice Malin, 38, of Columbia was inside the residence. The suspect refused to exit the residence and barricaded himself inside. CPD believed that Malin was potentially armed and he had made previous comments about possible "suicide by cop." The Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT were then activated to assist at the scene.

Malin surrendered approximately 50 minutes after CPD made initial contact. It was learned at that time that there were two other people inside the residence. During the incident, there were no injuries sustained. The two other people in the residence are being questioned at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or Crimestoppers at 573.875.TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
