Accumulating snow may cause slick roads during Jan. 30 rush hour, City crews plan to treat roads throughout evening

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at 3 p.m., Jan. 30, until midnight tonight. Periods of accumulating snow, combined with bitter cold temperatures, may cause travel difficulties, especially during rush hour Wednesday.

The City of Columbia Public Works Street Division continues to treat and plow priority routes. Crews plan to work through the evening. Due to the extreme cold temperatures, many roads have become mostly snow covered.

Drivers should exercise extreme caution throughout the evening, i.e. slower than normal speeds, especially on raised surfaces and around curves, plenty of distance between cars, allowing for longer stopping distances when approaching intersections, etc.

Updates will be posted on Public Works social media accounts and CoMoSnow.com as they become available.
