In an effort to protect the health and safety of collection staff in extreme weather, the City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility will cancel curbside recycle and trash collection on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Due to forecasted life-threatening temperatures and wind chills, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday customers will be delayed by one day. The Utility intends to resume collection Thursday, Jan. 31, beginning by picking up materials from Wednesday customers. Thursday customers will be collected Friday, Feb. 1, and Friday customers will be collected on Saturday, Feb. 2
With strong winds predicted, customers are urged to secure items in sealed bags and place at the curb no earlier than 4 p.m. the day before the newly rescheduled collection day.
Any changes will be shared via Facebook (@ColumbiaRecycles) and on the COMO Recycle and Trash app available for Apple and Android. Customers signed up to receive updates from the app will be notified directly of service changes. Download it today to receive schedule reminders, service notifications and to access our Waste Wizard feature.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
