Flat Branch Park expansion public input meeting set for Jan. 31

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Parks and Recreation is holding a public input meeting regarding the expansion of Flat Branch Park, 101 S. Fourth St. The drop-in meeting will be held at the Walton Building, 300 S. Providence Road, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31.

The tract of land slated for the expansion is at 32 S. Providence Road. The Columbia City Council purchased the tract of land in 2016 from Roth Properties, LLP.

The park expansion would be planned to commemorate the City of Columbia’s bicentennial in 2021. Other site enhancements would include public transportation and streetscape improvements.

The park development may include a pedestrian bridge, fountain, walkways and utilities, as well as the construction of the Columbia West Gateway Plaza as part of the Downtown Community Improvement District’s (CID) Gateways project.

Parks and Recreation staff will be available at the public input meeting to share proposed expansion plans, answer questions and take comments.
