Columbia Police arrested Dalton Dostaglou, 27, of Columbia after a brief standoff on Nov. 8. Dostaglou is a parole absconder, wanted on the original charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Domestic Assault and Narcotic violations. Dostaglou has also been named as a suspect in recent thefts which include the theft of firearms from a local business.
Dostaglou was reported to have committed another theft from a local business at approximately 3:00 p.m.on Nov. 7. Columbia Police officers tracked Dostaglou to the Super 8 hotel in the 5700 block of Freedom Dr. While trying to apprehend Dostaglou, he fled from a second story window of the hotel.
A K-9 track was conducted, and as the track was occurring along the southside of Demaret Dr, officers received information Dostaglou was inside a residence in the 700 block of Demaret.
A perimeter was established around the residence, and all occupants (other than Dostaglou) exited the building upon request by law enforcement. Officers confirmed Dostaglou was inside and that he was armed with a handgun.
Dostaglou refused to exit the residence after multiple requests to do so. Columbia Police SWAT was called to the scene. A short time after SWAT arrived, they breached the front door of the residence and Dostaglou surrendered to officers without further resistance. A firearm was found in the residence.
Dostaglou was arrested on the outstanding parole absconder warrant with additional charges to be filed.
Dostaglou was transported to a local hospital as he was under the influence of a controlled substance.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the search and apprehension of Dostaglou. Their assistance is greatly appreciated.
