Columbia City Council election petitions available for pick up, first day to file Oct. 30

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Petitions are now available to be picked up for citizens who wish to run for Columbia City Council for Ward 3, Ward 4 or Mayor (Council Member At-Large). Petitions and associated instructions may be picked up in the City Clerk's Office on the second floor of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, which is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon) and from 1 to 5 p.m., excluding weekends and City holidays.

Any candidate for Ward 3 and Ward 4 must be a qualified voter and resident of the Ward they are filing to represent and shall hold no lucrative public office or any lucrative position in the City government. Candidates must obtain at least 50 signatures from citizens who reside and are registered voters of that same Ward.

Any candidate for Mayor (Council Member At-Large) must be a qualified voter and resident of the City. Candidates must obtain at least 100 signatures from citizens who reside and are registered voters of the City.

Candidates may file for election beginning at 8 a.m. on Oct. 30; the deadline to file is no later than 5 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2019.
