(COLUMBIA, MO) - On Thursday, August 30th, 2018 at 2:29 PM, units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to 912 Rain Forest Parkway (Jimmy John's) for a commercial structure fire. Crews arrived three minutes later and found the business had been evacuated and employees had discharged a fire extinguisher in the restaurant. Minor fire damage was found in and around an electrical outlet and electrical cord. Crews confirmed the fire had not extended in the wall using a thermal imaging camera. No injuries were reported.
The Columbia Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office conducted an on scene fire investigation. They determined the fire originated in an electrical outlet and was caused by an electrical failure. Damages are estimated at $100. The health department was notified due to an extinguisher being discharged in a food prep area.
