UPDATE - Fatality crash at Business Loop 70 and Parkade Boulevard on July 30

DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 07/30/18 @ 2:40 p.m.               

ACCIDENT LOCATION:  Business Loop 70 West and Parkade Boulevard

DRIVER 1:                   Birdie Duff, 64, Columbia, Missouri  - Seatbelt - No injuries
PASSENGER 1:             Juvenile, 2, Columbia, Missouri - Child Restraint - No injuries

VEHICLE 1:                  2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

DRIVER 2:                   James E Markey, 50, Columbia, Missouri - No seatbelt, DOT Helmet - Fatal Injuries

VEHICLE 2:                  1985 BMW K100 Motorcycle

                                   

INCIDENT DETAILS:

The crash occurred as Vehicle 1, (Chevy Truck) was traveling North on Madison near Business Loop.  Driver 1 turned East onto Business Loop 70 and then turned North on Parkade Blvd. Vehicle 2, (BMW Motorcycle) was traveling west on Business Loop 70.  Driver 2 attempted to avoid the Chevy, but was unable to.  The BMW Motorcycle was struck by the Chevy, causing Driver 2 to be ejected from the motorcycle.  Driver 1 did not suffer any injuries.  Driver 2 suffered fatal injuries.  Drugs and alcohol are NOT believed to be a contributing factor.  The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing
