Columbia Police officers responded to the 1200 block of North Eighth Street at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Friday, July 6, in reference to a home invasion and shots fired.
The preliminary investigation revealed a male suspect forced entry into a residence and discharged a weapon. The victim and suspect knew each other. Patrol officers and the K-9 Unit responded and began their search for the suspect who had fled the area. At approximately 5:30 p.m. the suspect was located and taken into custody. The door to the residence was damaged and there are no reported injuries. The investigation is on-going.
