Update: Lane closures June 18-20 on Providence to repair road buckle

Update: Repairs were completed and both lanes were opened for traffic at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 20.

Update: City of Columbia Public Works crews have been working to repair a pavement buckle on Providence Road between Blue Ridge Road and Big Bear Boulevard. The pavement buckle has gotten worse on the side that was not repaired today on Providence Road near Big Bear Boulevard resulting in the closure of the southbound lane. Signs were placed in the area to alert motorists of the closure; drivers are asked to seek an alternate route. Motorists, nonmotorized transportation users and pedestrians should exercise caution when traveling through the area.

City of Columbia Public Works crews plan to begin working to repair a pavement buckle on Providence Road between Blue Ridge Road and Big Bear Boulevard, June 18-20, weather permitting. 
City crews will close one lane at a time to make the necessary repairs. Signs have been placed on Providence Road in both directions to warn drivers of the road buckle and the repairs. Minor delay are expected.  
Motorists, nonmotorized transportation users and pedestrians should exercise caution when traveling through the area.
