Columbia Police detectives arrested Sean Thomas Diestel, 30, of Boone County following a sexual offense investigation involving a minor. Diestel was a teacher with Columbia Public Schools at the time of the reported offense.
On May 4, at approximately 4:07 p.m., detectives responded to 4303 S. Providence Road, Rock Bridge High School, in reference to a student reporting sexual contact with a teacher. Detectives were advised the female victim was enrolled in a class taught by Diestel at the Columbia Area Career Center. The victim reported from September 2017 to December 2017, she and Diestel engaged in a sexual relationship. The victim was 17 years of age at the time of the reported relationship. The victim stated the sexual contact occurred in the 6000 block of Gateway Boulevard and the 1800 block of East Point Drive in Boone County.
Diestel was arrested on May 10 at 12:52 p.m. at CPD for Felony Sexual Contact with a Student with a bond to be set by the Court.
