Columbia Police officers arrested Jamon Deniro Roberts, 23, of Columbia following an attempted armed robbery on Switzler Street.
Officers responded to the area at 4:02 p.m. in reference to a weapons incident. Boone County Joint Communications advised a suspect was being held down by an involved party.
The preliminary investigation revealed Jamon Roberts entered a residence, brandished a firearm, and demanded money from the occupants. There were five occupants present inside the home at the time, including two juveniles. The victims were able to push Roberts down and effectively disarm him. The victims proceeded to restrain Roberts until officers arrived. There were two other suspects that were present outside the home during the incident. Those suspects fled on foot. A K-9 search was conducted, however, the suspects were not located. There were no reported injuries or property damage as a result of the attempted robbery.
One of the outstanding suspects is described as a light skinned male in his 20’s wearing all gray colored clothing. The other suspect is described as a black male possibly with dreadlocks. The investigation is on-going.
Roberts was arrested in the 10 block of Switzler Street at 4:10 p.m. for:
- Five (5) counts of Felony First Degree Assault;
- Felony Robbery in the First Degree;
- Felony Armed Criminal Action;
- Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon;
- Felony Unlawful for Certain Persons to Possess Concealable Firearm; and
- Felony Burglary in the First Degree.
