Columbia Police officers arrested Shawn Lee Sweezer, 31, of Harrisburg, Mo. late Thursday night after a female received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the 2400 block of Clark Lane.
Officers, Columbia Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the residence at 10:06 p.m. for a medical emergency. Upon arrival, they located a female victim, 27, with a gunshot wound to her leg. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
The investigation revealed Shawn Sweezer discharged the firearm, shooting the victim. Sweezer and the victim are in an intimate relationship. Officers learned Sweezer was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time he was handling the loaded firearm. Sweezer is a convicted felon.
Sweezer was arrested at 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 in the 2400 block of Clark Lane for Felony Domestic Assault in the Second Degree and Felony Unlawful for Certain Persons to Possess Concealable Firearm with bonds to be set by the Court. Sweezer was also arrested on two (2) outstanding Felony Warrants with a total cash only bond of $10,000.00.
