Columbia Parks and Recreation plans Women's History Month events

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Columbia Parks and Recreation is planning a series of events to celebrate March as Women's History Month. Events are free except for the three-on-three basketball tournament.

An exhibit featuring famous women of Missouri is available for viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays at the Armory Sports Center, 701 E. Ash. It will be open through the month of March.

A film and discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 6 at the Armory Sports Center. Following a showing of "Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise," a discussion will be held and refreshments will be available.

The Precious Moments-Women's Recognition Awards will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 13 at the Armory. All are welcome to attend and invite a family member, friend, teacher or any woman who is special to them, and honor them with a poem, song or story. Refreshments will be available.

A Women's Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament will be held starting at 9 a.m. on March 17 at the Armory. The tournament is for females ages 15 to adult. Rosters should be a maximum of five players, with a price of $60 per team. The tournament is double-elimination, so each team will play at least two games. Registration forms are available at the Armory, Parks and Recreation office, 1 S. Seventh St., or online at CoMo.gov.

Call the Armory Sports Center at 573-817-5077 for more information about Women's History Month activities.
