Renovations in the main lobby of the Columbia Police Department located at 600 E. Walnut Street are complete. The lobby opened to citizens again this morning and will resume services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Fingerprinting services are still unavailable at this time.
With the renovations, the Information Center, formally known as the Records Unit, has moved and is now located off the main lobby. Citizens requesting police reports or any other police records are now able to make those requests at the front desk in the main lobby. The Records entrance off Seventh Street will eventually become closed to the public.
The renovations on the lobby began on Jan. 19. They are part of a larger renovation the department is currently going through. During this continued renovation process, services such as tours are being postponed given the on-going construction throughout the building.
We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding from citizens that was received during the temporary closure.
