Erik Demetrek Colbert, age 28, from Fulton, was arrested for Armed Criminal Action, Robbery in the First Degree, Kidnapping, Felony Stealing, and Assault in the Fourth Degree.
Officers were originally dispatched on January 14, 2018 at 6:26 p.m. to a hostage situation/robbery at 2001 W. Worley Street, Best Buy.
The investigation revealed Colbert entered the business and held an employee at gun point to steal items from the store. Colbert then held a female customer and her two children at gun point in order to make his escape out the doors and forced them to help him carry the stolen items out to a vehicle. Colbert fled the scene in a vehicle with the stolen items. There was no one injured during the robbery.
Colbert was located and arrested at 7:08 p.m. shortly after the robbery at Midway Budget Inn when he stole a car at that location. Colbert was arrested and released to the Boone County Jail.
