On 1/11/18 at 8:45 a.m., detectives arrested Jasmine Ford, age 24, from Columbia, at 600 E. Walnut for Armed Criminal Action, First Degree Assault, Kidnapping and Unlawful Use of Weapons.
On 1/11/18 at 11:11 a.m., detectives arrested Barry Ronell Brown II, age 31, from Columbia, at 9th Street and Alley A for Armed Criminal Action, First Degree Assault, Kidnapping, and Unlawful use of Weapons.
The investigation revealed that officers on the scene observed a trail of blood leading from 2607 Eastwood Drive, Building 90 to 2607 Eastwood Drive, Building 70, apartment 75. Officers observed a large amount of blood and apparent bullet holes outside of apartment 75. Officers forced entry into the apartment to see if any individuals were injured inside. Officers did not locate anyone inside the apartment. Officers learned Jasmine Ford and Barry Brown were residents of that apartment.
Officers responding to the initial scene were able to verify that Ford and Brown were present in the area at the time of the shooting.
Detectives spoke to the victim at the hospital and she reported Brown had offered her money to perform a sexual act and she refused. Brown and Ford prevented the victim from leaving and assaulted her. The victim reported Brown shot her. The gun used in the shooting was recovered from Ford at the Columbia Police Department.
