Columbia Police officers are still investigating after a female received a gunshot wound during a domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of Fir Place.
Boone County Joint Communications received a call at 1:14 a.m. today referencing a female with a gunshot wound to the foot at 1412 Rangeline Street, Midwest Petroleum. Officers made contact with the female who reported she was shot in the foot by a male whom she was in an intimate relationship with; the incident occurred during a physical disturbance between the two in the 1500 block of Fir Place. The female, 30, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injury.
Officers attempted to make contact with the male subject by phone and at the residence on Fir Place. Negotiations were made with the male to have him meet officers at the police department. The male became uncooperative and refused any further contact with officers. Being the male subject was known to be armed, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team were activated.
CNT and SWAT continued to attempt contact with the male subject outside of the residence. When attempts were unsuccessful, the residence was breached and canvassed. Officers determined the male was not inside the residence. The scene was cleared and the investigation is on-going.
