Columbia Police officers arrested Aidan Dennis Murphy, 21, of Columbia this morning after a home invasion in the 200 block of Apple Tree Court.
Officers responded to the area at 12:38 a.m. Boone County Joint Communications received a call regarding screaming and a door being kicked in at a residence. The investigation revealed three occupants were inside the home when Murphy and another male suspect forced entry. Murphy was in possession of a firearm at the time and struck a female victim, 35, in the face with it. Murphy and the other suspect retrieved property from the home before fleeing the area. The victim sustained minor injuries.
At approximately 3:59 a.m., the victim reported Murphy had returned to the residence. Upon officers' arrival, they located Murphy in the hallway of the apartment building. A search of Murphy's person located brass knuckles and approximately 2.94 grams of methamphetamine. Murphy was arrested at 4:15 a.m. in the 200 block of Apple Tree Court for Felony Armed Criminal Action, Felony Robbery in the First Degree, Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with bonds to be set by the Court.
While detectives were investigating this incident, it was determined probable cause existed for Murphy's arrest related to a disturbance that occurred on 11/18/17 in the 200 block of Anita Court. Murphy was additionally arrested for Felony Burglary in the First Degree, Felony Property Damage in the First Degree, and Misdemeanor Domestic Assault in the Fourth Degree with bonds to be set by the Court.
The second suspect from the home invasion has not been arrested at this time. The investigation is on-going.
