A male victim, 30, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation after a strong arm robbery early this morning in downtown Columbia.
Columbia Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Hitt Street at 3:17 a.m. today in reference to a verbal disturbance. The complainant reported hearing someone screaming in the area.
Upon officers' arrival, they made contact with the male victim. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was in an alley in the area when he was struck multiple times by a suspect. The suspect then retrieved property belonging to the victim before fleeing the area. The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital for evaluation. The suspect is described as a black male who was last seen wearing dark colored clothing. The investigation is on-going.
