Correction: Previous headline incorrectly indicated Nov. 7
Beginning Monday, Oct. 30, River City Construction, a contractor for University of Missouri Facilities Planning and Development, began construction for a new State Historical Society Building. This has resulted in sidewalk closures on the east side of Sixth Street (between Locust and Elm), the west side of Seventh Street (south half block between Locust and Elm), the north side of Elm Street (between Sixth and Seventh), and on the south side of Locust (between Sixth and Seventh). The work associated with the closure is scheduled to be completed by Monday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone. Pedestrians should find alternate routes when possible.
A long-term closure is scheduled to follow this short-term closure upon Columbia City Council approval. Further details will be announced at that time.
