Three people arrived at local hospitals early this morning after being struck by gunfire in a parking lot off Business Loop 70 East.
Columbia Police officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 904 Business Loop 70 East, Ruckus Bar & Grill, at 1:20 a.m. today in reference to several reports of shots fired. As officers arrived to the scene, a sizeable crowd was observed fleeing the area. Officers located multiple shell casings from different calibers of firearms throughout the area. As officers were investigating, they were advised by Boone County Joint Communications that three subjects arrived at local hospitals with gunshot wounds. A fourth subject who was believed to have been grazed by a bullet arrived at the police department.
The preliminary investigation revealed several people were engaged in a disturbance in the parking lot of the business prior to officers' arrival. During the disturbance, multiple people brandished firearms and began shooting at one another. Gunfire struck the three subjects aforementioned, as well as at least one wall of Ruckus Bar & Grill. It is unknown if there was further property damage at this time. The injuries of the three who sustained gunshot wounds are considered non-life-threatening. There have been no further reported injuries.
