Columbia Police officers responded to the 1500 block of Rolling Rock Drive yesterday at 11:51 p.m. in reference to a subject with a gunshot wound. Boone County Joint Communications advised officers the complainant reported a friend had sustained a gunshot wound and was in need of medical assistance.
Upon officers' arrival they located a 20-year-old male subject with a gunshot wound. The male was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of this morning, the male's condition remains critical. Detectives are actively interviewing witnesses in an effort to piece together what led up to the male receiving the gunshot wound. The investigation is on-going.
