Columbia Police officers arrested Anthony Sean Acton, 25, of Columbia last night after a home invasion robbery in the 900 block of Huntridge Drive.
Officers responded to the address at 8:34 p.m. yesterday, August 16, after Boone County Joint Communications received a report of a robbery with a gun. The preliminary investigation revealed two male suspects entered a residence where one male victim, 23, was present. At least one suspect brandished a firearm. The suspects retrieved an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency before fleeing the area in a vehicle. Officers obtained a suspect vehicle description, including a license plate number through the investigation.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle in the 1100 block of Smiley Lane. As the vehicle began to leave the area, Columbia Police officers conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle near Rangeline Road and Smiley Lane. Officers made contact with the sole occupant, Anthony Acton. Officers detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle located U.S. currency, heroin, marijuana, and a firearm. Acton is a convicted felon.
Acton was arrested at 9:31 p.m. in the 1100 block of Smiley Lane for Felony Robbery in the First Degree, Felony Armed Criminal Action, Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Felony Unlawful for Certain Persons to Possess Concealable Firearm, and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with bonds to be set by the Court.
The second male suspect has not been arrested at this time. The investigation is on-going. The Columbia Police Department would like to thank the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their assistance in apprehending this suspect.
