Original Press Release
(June 12, 2017):

Summer surface seal operations scheduled for 22 streets beginning June 20
Columbia Public Works announced Monday plans to surface seal a number of Columbia streets beginning June 20 with Onyx. The Onyx surface treatment is a fast-drying asphalt roadway and pavement sealing solution designed to extend pavement life. It is a mixture of liquid asphalt, fine aggregates, recycled products and bonding agents.

Musselman & Hall will apply the surface sealer for the City and provide traffic control. Minor delays are likely. Please follow the instructions of flaggers and obey no parking signs when posted in the area. Vehicles left on the streets may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.

Work will continue by the contractor during the summer until completed. The tentative order of streets will be announced as it becomes available from the contractor. Motorists, nonmotorized transportation users and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution in these areas while crews are working.
